Additional information

The methodology presented is first of its kind and it addresses the burning water industry issue of timely pipe burst location following successful detection. The methodology was developed as part of a £3.8M EPSRC project NEPTUNE (EP/E003192/1), it was patented (US0808985.6) and it led to two follow on Knowledge Transfer Partnership projects (KTP001797 and KTP001851) with Yorkshire Water (4.7M customers) worth £300K. The conservatively estimated savings to Yorkshire Water are approximately £700,000 per year via reduced operational costs. University is currently negotiating the patent licensing / sale with several leading technology providers in the field.
