This work has shown the superior performance of Y-frame panels in 27 ships, built by Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding (DSNS) using such panels at cost of EUR10M per ship (Joep Broekhuijsen, ID_in_audit_file@damennaval.com). M2i (Dutch Materials Innovation Institute) and DSNS initiated a subsequent project at Cambridge to fund a PhD student (Luc St. Pierre) and this relationship is now continuing with a third project funding PhD student Kevin Maloney (grant number: M32.4.12470).
