Galicia, A Sentimental Nation: Gender, Culture and Politics
This 250-page monograph is the result of a post-doctoral period of five years of research (2008–13). During this time, the author elaborated the theoretical frame for the study in a series of conference papers and peer-reviewed articles (2008, 2009, 2010, 2012). Analysis of the primary sources is based on an extensive feminist/postcolonial critique of the main texts of Galician literary history since the late nineteenth-century up to the contemporary period. The study tackles authors and works that Galician nationalist historiography has discarded as uncomfortable or ideologically unacceptable, and it so doing it rewrites Galician intellectual history.
