A paper generated under the second phase of the EPSRC SUPERGEN 'Biomass Biofuels and Energy Crops Consortium' (EP/E039995/1), and building on research developments from the first phase (GR/S28204/01). Results have supported a TSB project (TP/5/MAT/6/I/H0639C, Modelling Fireside Corrosion of Heat Exchanger Materials in Advanced Energy Systems) in validating theoretical models of new fuel mixes in conventional power plants (Colin Davis, Colin.Davis@eon.com; Toby Lant, TobyP.Lant@centrica.com). Further developments will form part of a new EPSRC project (FLEX-E-PLANT, EP/K021095/1) co-funded by 16 industrial partners (e.g., Colin Davis, Colin.Davis@eon.com; Toby Lant, TobyP.Lant@centrica.com; Tony Fry, tony.fry@npl.co.uk).
