Computational and experimental investigation into aerodynamic interference between slender bodies in supersonic flow
This is the first of two complementary outputs for research in collaboration with the UK MoD (Defence Science and Technology Laboratory) and the Franco-German Institute St. Louis, France, funded by DSTL and EPSRC (GR/T18424). The research quantified the ability of computational methods to calculate the effects of supersonic aerodynamic interference for multi-body configurations. The results nurtured research activities in high-speed aerodynamics which has led to subsequent funding from the US Air Force Office of Scientific Research (EOARD/FA8655-11-1-3025 $63,600) along with invited access and use of a key facility in the US (Contact: Principal Scientist, DSTL, email available on request).
