Additional information

This work was funded through EPSRC Grant EP/C511190 in collaboration with Servocell Ltd to investigate the application of piezoelectric based flapping systems as a solid state electronics cooling fan (Contact Dr Paul M. Weaver, Servocell PBT Ltd, Harlow, Essex, U.K.). A similar flapping device was also studied as a potential propulsion system for a micro air vehicle.
