Additional information

Invited paper of the Aeronautical Journal of the Royal Aeonautical Society (contact aerojournal@aerosociety.com) presents the first application of a novel (tomographic background-oriented schlieren) technique to rectangular jet flows, relevant to V/STOL jet aircraft applications. This paper shows, for the first time, the potential of this technique to give rapid assessment of complex three-dimensional jet spreading, potentially saving considerable test time and costs for applications needing this information.
