Additional information

* The first paper ever to show how switching characteristics can be evaluated for various PWM schemes in multiphase drive systems with an odd phase number using vector space decomposition into 2D planes.

* Significant since it shows that, in contrast to three-phase systems, zero-sequence injection does not improve switching ripple in multiphase systems and can only improve the dc bus voltage utilisation while simultaneously worsening the harmonic flux distortion factors. Accompanied with detailed experimental study.

* Of high practical importance for drive designers and users, since it enables evaluation of additional winding losses in multiphase inverter supplied drives.
