Additional information

This paper demonstrates a novel insight of fluid-structure interaction in the cerebral aneurysm using computational analyses on anatomically accurate aneurysm models based on medical images. The interaction had been thought insignificant for decades but this paper shed a new light on that: fluid-solid interaction is significant in aneurysms, highly depending on the shape of aneurysm and parent arteries. This work was an important outcome from Japanese governmental projects on computational science “Frontier Simulation Software for Industrial Science” and “Revolutionary Simulation Software” (£53m for 7 years altogether), and has been highly valued with 40 citations as of June 2012.
