Creative Writing as a Degree discipline is relatively new to UK Universities. The first experiment occurred with the creation of the Gregory Fellows in Leeds from 1950 by T S Eliot, Bonamy Dobrée, Eric Gregory, Herbert Read and Henry Moore. This article derives from archival research on papers held in Special Collections, University of Leeds, many of which have not been studied before.
