Commissioned by the International Broadcasting Trust (IBT). This report plays a major role in current political debate over deregulation in the media and the role of quality television in citizenship. It is an analysis of the role regulation played in the fortunes of Current Affairs broadcast journalism since the launch of BBC TV. It includes 32 primary interviews with all leading industry names. Commissioned in advance of the new Communications Act, it was distributed to both Houses Culture Select Committees and to DCMS. It led to becoming evidence to various inquiries into media regulation, and the future of the BBC.
