Additional information

There is international industrial interest in redox flow batteries for energy storage applications, e.g. E.ON (http://www.eon-uk.com/) and KEMA (http://www.dnvkema.com/Default.aspx). We demonstrated a membrane-free soluble lead flow battery with a less complex cell design and one third cost vs a conventional vanadium alternative. C-Tech Innovation and E.ON are now scaling up this technology to a multi-kW pilot cell (http://www.ctechinnovation.com/, Dr John Collins, john.collins@ctechinnovation.com). This paper led to further EU funding [€3.56 M, POWAIR 256759], including the following collaborators: E.ON, C Tech, KEMA, Fumatech, CEST, and Seville University (http://www.powair.eu/).
