Separation of patuletin-3-O-glucoside, astragalin, quercetin, kaempferol and isorhamnetin from Flaveria bidentis (L.) Kuntze by elution-pump-out high-performance counter-current chromatography
This illustrates applications of high performance countercurrent chromatography (HPCCC) centrifuges developed at Brunel in an international collaboration with Professor Wei at Beijing University of Chemical Technology. It reports use of analytical HPCCC to separate a range of natural products from a plant extract and scaling up of the separation using preparative scale HPCCC for the first time. It shows rapid purifications and recovery with a 10x improvement over the state of the art. The paper arose from Prof Wei’s 3 month sabbatical in our laboratories which generated 2 additional publications (Wei et al., Chromatographia,74(2011)367-373 and 70(2009)1185-1189).
