Additional information

Design optimization of a molten salt cooled fast reactor with flexible conversion ratio is an extremely challenging problem mainly due to the positive coolant temperature reactivity feedback. A unique contribution of this paper is a comprehensive set of design approaches to reduce the magnitude of the positive coolant temperature coefficient. Some of them, for example, the use of axially heterogeneous core structure and large coolant plenum above the core, were adopted in the design of a prototype Sodium cooled reactor ASTRID to be built by CEA in France (ID_in_audit_file@cea.fr)
