Additional information

This paper is part of a very substantial activity in this Department on the modelling, control and suppression of thermoacoustic oscillations in gas turbines. There has been interaction with, and feedback to, the experimentalists and modellers. The paper has concentrated on the control theory aspects demonstrating significant difficulties with certain well-established approaches when applied to this class of problem. Dr Yuan is now with The Mathworks, UK, where he is a specialist in modelling and control. This and similar combined theory+application contributions have led to Glover being invited to give the opening plenary at the American Control Conference 2014.
