This research was sponsored by Nishimatsu Ltd and put immediately to use in relation to tunnelling beneath London for the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (now HS1). The equipment designed for this research is currently being used by Crossrail (Chief Engineer, ID_in_audit_file@crossrail.co.uk) to optimise the soil conditioning for the earth pressure balance tunnelling machines, under the supervision of Geotechnical Consulting Group (ID_in_audit_file@gcg.co.uk).
