The findings contributed to the successful execution of the largest research-based field trials on the remediation of a contaminated site as part of a large TSB funded project (TP/5/CON/6/I/H0304E). This in turn led to a recent EPSRC grant application with significant industrial support (EP/K030655/1). Al-Tabbaa was invited to give keynote lectures on the subject area at international events in Brussels in May (ISSMGE TC211) and Wollongong in Oct 2012 (ICGI). Kogbara has since been appointed to academic posts in Saudi Arabia (King Abdulaziz) and Qatar (Texas A&M).
