Additional information

This paper presents the second, and more complex, wireless sensor network deployed by the authors. The sensors developed on this project paved the way for the deployment of a large scale wireless sensor network involving over a hundred sensors at the Hammersmith flyover and station (ID_in_audit_file@tfl.gov.uk). Based on published evidence, this is believed to be the largest such deployment in the world at that time. This research provided the foundation which underpinned a successful bid for a GBP10M EPSRC/TSB funded Cambridge Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction, which also attracted GBP7M of industrial support.
