Additional information

The experimental component of this paper is based on Cambridge high speed sampling valve and gas analyser expertise. It is thought to be the only paper showing experimentally the cyclic air-fuel-ratio during SI/HCCI/SI transitions, and shows how this information may be used to optimise such transitions for improving the quality of the transition. Ford Motor Company funded this work, and the results were used by the company in their assessment of the viability of this engine concept. (Dr Themi Petridis, ID_in_audit_file@ford.com)
