Cloke is lead author of Swept Up Lives, which is the collaboratively written culminating output of a three-year ESRC funded research project and several smaller additional pieces of research. The research produced 11 stand-alone articles in peer-review international journals. The book, written at the climax of the project, synthesises substantive empirical findings and conceptual innovations (eg around third sector organisations, postsecularity and resistance to neo-liberalism) that go well beyond the contribution of the individual papers. It was the focus of “author meets interlocutor” sessions at the leading international Geography conferences in the UK and USA.
