Additional information

A regional model of the UK is employed to analyse the long-term economic impacts due to installation of up to 3 GW of wave energy devices in Scotland by 2020. It is shown that increased employment and GDP are maintained for several decades after decommissioning of the wave energy devices. This finding has informed discussions on the assessment and value of marine energy which have led to Scottish policy designed to support marine energy. The work reported led to Manchesters role as lead of the economics work package in the EU FP7 Equimar project.
