Additional information

The paper constitutes one of the five phases of EPSRC Grant GR/S66770 (Bridge Management System – BRIMS) with a budget of £120,965; I acted as PI.

BRIMS achieved the “tending to outstanding” overall assessment by the EPSRC, which is the second highest criterion.

The industrial partners for BRIMS were the Highways Agency and the Transport Research Laboratory. BRIMS also aimed at resolving issues raised by NAO work, which revealed that “there are strong weaknesses in the approach of the Highways Agency for assessing maintenance schemes”.

The impact factor of this journal is 1.516. This paper has been well received and cited.
