MicroRNA-200C and -150 play an important role in endothelial cell differentiation and vasculogenesis by targeting transcription repressor ZEB1.
This work was funded by the British Heart Foundation (PG/11/40/28891) and an Intermediate Fellowship (FS/09/044/28007). The paper was based on Dr Luo’s PhD project under the supervision of Professor Wen Wang, and led to the award of her PhD degree in 2012. It was presented to the American Heart Association (AHA2012, Los Angeles, USA). Outcome of the work contributed to the renewal of the BHF programme grant in 2011 and attracted an industrial PhD studentship (2012). Since its publication in October 2013, the work has been followed by groups in Glasgow University, UC San Diego and Zhejiang University in China.
