This is work on chemical looping combustion in collaboration with Imperial college and Ruhr-Universität Bochum. The modelling of this process has great potential in limiting combustion associated pollution from power station. The work was funded by the Humbolt foundation. We approach the problem from simulation point of view using the in-house codes and numerical simulation expertise developed by Munjiza. The work has led to the publication of the open-source Y-nano code, supplied with our monograph Computational Mechanics of Discontinua (Wiley 2010). The preliminary studies led to the invitation to host the major international conference in this field (DEM5, London 2010).
