This study examined the feasibility and cost effectiveness of solar home systems (SHS) for use in Bangladesh. A field study created a data set for the country and the findings of this research were presented to Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL). Evidence suggests that these were taken on board; punitive actions were taken against some of the suppliers for deviating from the approved specifications. An update to the technical specifications and guidelines for SHS installations is currently underway on the basis of this field study.
