The work reported in this paper was the first in a series of outputs, carried out in collaboration with University of Glasgow, to report on SRR based metamaterials to be utilised for highly sensitive biosensors. Metamaterial based biosensors are now emerging as a prominent and important research area and the paper has received numerous citations from world leading research groups including N Zheludev et al (Southampton), X Zhang et al (Berkeley) and H. Atwater (Caltech).
