Additional information

This invited paper is one contribution of 13 to a Theme Issue on ‘Signal processing in vital rhythms and signs’. It shows that non-linear analysis methods successfully characterise the subtle changes in the electroencephalograms and magnetoencephalograms in patients with Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Our ongoing work suggests that non-linear analysis techniques could be useful tools in the complex diagnosis of AD. Due to the ageing of the population in the UK and the high prevalence of AD, this research could have a huge societal impact.
