Emanating from ESRC inter-disciplinary research group RESOLVE, the paper attempts (using the Structural Time Series Model) to estimate the relative contributions of price, income and the non-economic factors in driving UK Transportation oil demand. This is, as far as is known, the first published paper that attempts to distinguish empirically between economic and non-economic factors in this way. This innovative approach exemplifies the relative relationship between economic and non-economic drivers of demand and such analysis will enhance behavioural change policymaking decisions.
