Additional information

A region of parameter space where oscillations occur in a simple model of cool flames is identified. The interesting behaviours seen in various parts of the regime diagram are also thoroughly explored. This characterisation of the simplest model of cool flames can be used as a benchmark for future studies of more complex reaction schemes. This work contributed to the award of the Dankwerts-Pergamon Prize to Alasdair Campbell by the University of Cambridge. This work was presented at the 31st International Symposium on Combustion (Heidelberg, 2006).
