Additional information

This paper reports the developed shear wave testing as a method to assess the quality of stone columns. A key output was the ability to distinguish changes in the relative stiffness and therefore quality of stone columns post-compaction when prepared in the laboratory. The potential impact of this work is a significantly improved assessment of the as-built quality of stone columns providing a means to reduce cost of such assessments and increase confidence of post–construction performance of all columns constructed. This paper is currently being reviewed by Keller to embed this into their assessment protocols for stone column assessments.
