<9> The International Journal of Software Engineering and Applications is a forum which combines leading edge research in both academia and industry. The underpinning research contained within this paper identifies policy and/or procedural issues in the development of large scientific software models within academia. These issues do not occur within an engineering environment, and the paper proposes a strategy for evaluating the impact on the quality of output generated by an identified model through the existence of these issues. The case study represents the significant findings from an initial investigation which took place.
