Additional information

An experimental and computational study showed how the core density of a sandwich structure influences failure modes and blast resistance, with a high density core leading to more crack generation and a low density core to a more ductile failure. The work was presented in an invited Royal Aeronautical Society conference on Impact and Damage Tolerance in Composite Materials (evidence file Guan2-1.pdf) and at the 3rd International Conference on Advanced Composite Materials and Technologies for Aerospace Applications (evidence file Guan2-2).
