Heat transfer coefficient of porous copper with homogeneous and hybrid structures in active cooling
Realised layered structures and developed the first convective heat transfer model for inhomogeneous porous media. The work underpinned the commercialisation of the LCS process (patent EP1755809, evidence file: zhao2-1.pdf) by Versarien plc (Contact: CEO, Neill Ricketts, evidence file: zhao2-2.pdf), a start-up company founded in 2010 to exploit the technology, which has been floated on the London Stock Exchange in June 2013. It is the outcome of a TSB funded project, which was shortlisted for The Engineer Technology & Innovation Awards 2010 (evidence file: zhao2-3.pdf). The Editor-in-Chief commented on the work: “such an excellent study” (evidence file: zhao2-4).
