A new process for the production of thin film CdTe solar cells was evaluated in terms of the process interaction with the electrical and crystal material factors that control the power conversion efficiency. A basic mechanism for the efficiency control was determined that may be applied directly to improving the device performance. Follow-on funding has been obtained by the originator of the process at the Glyndwr University, EP/K019597/1 “High-power, low-weight, flexible thin film photovoltaics for space application” (evidence file: Durose4-1)
