Additional information

Layered porous materials are realised and modelled with the first convective heat transfer model for inhomogeneous porous media. The work underpinned the commercialisation of the patented (evidence file: zhao4-1.pdf) manufacturing process by Versarien plc (evidence file: zhao4-2.pdf). The start-up company was founded in 2010 to exploit the technology, which has been floated on the London Stock Exchange in June 2013. It is the outcome of a TSB funded project, which was shortlisted for The Engineer Technology & Innovation Awards 2010 (evidence file: zhao4-3.pdf).
