Improvements in the measurement of intraocular pressure are achieved by adapting structural engineering analysis techniques to enable the better management of glaucoma. The letter from Garway-Heath of Moorfields Eye Hospital (evidence file: Elsheikh2-1) substantiates the main sources of inaccuracy affecting pressure measurement methods identified. This enabled the development of a new continuous monitoring system for the eye’s internal pressure, leading to the filing of two patent applications, US2011/0288395 and WO 2012/052765 (evidence files: Elsheikh2-2&2-3).
