Additional information

Selected vibration modes are changed by active control while others remain unchanged. The methodology, based on vibration test data (typically a ground vibration test) is demonstrated experimentally. Evidence of the value of this research includes implementation on an AgustaWestland W30 airframe (Proc. IMechE, Part C, J. Mech. Eng. Sci, 226(6), 1524-1536) with industrial co-author Peter Court (Evidence file: Mottershead2-1). Follow-on grants include EOARD FA8655-10-1-3054 and EPSRC EP/J004987/1 (Evidence file: Mottershead2–2 & 3). It was presented in a keynote paper at the ASCE Engineering Mechanics Institute Conference in Boston USA, June 2011 (Evidence file: Mottershead2-4).
