Additional information

This work, initiated in collaboration with Tata Steel, was the first to establish a strain induced precipitation and coarsening model for multipass deformation, representing a major change from kinetic models based only upon single deformation. This was only possible through the use of our novel Fe-30wt%Ni alloy microalloyed with Nb, to allow direct TEM observation of the high temperature precipitate and deformation structure at room temperature. This model has been incorporated into Tata Steel's models for microstructural modelling throughout individual steps of the rolling process (andrew.rose@tatasteel.com).
