Additional information

A multi-technique analysis of local structure in lithium-doped cobalt oxide leading to the recognition of early-stage phase separation of a partially-ordered layered rock salt phase. Interlayer cation mixing in layered rock salt cathodes for lithium batteries has a major deleterious effect on durability and performance. Single-technique studies are inadequate to characterise cation disorder and local structures in LiCoO2 cathode. This research elicited an invitation to lecture at the 1st Japan-UK Science, Technology and Innovation Symposium, Embassy of Japan, London, March 2013 on ‘Overview of materials development for lithium battery applications.’
