Additional information

Ionic conductivity of wedge shaped onium salts has been found to be greatly improved by molecular design hence their formation of a phase with 3D interconnected channels functioning as transport pathways. Detailed synchrotron x-ray diffraction studies enabled us to fully characterize such complex structures, and in particular, to locate the positions of ions, e.g. counteranions are located in the core of the 3D interconnected nanochannels. Such compounds have great potential to provide better solid electrolyte materials for cheaper, lighter, and more compact Li-batteries.
