<13> In computer aided design, the Sylvester resultant matrix arises when computing intersections between curves and surfaces. Its computation with noisy data is challenging. This paper shows how a low rank approximation can be used for Sylvester matrix ameliorating the effects of the noise. The work, which has led to a keynote talk at an international conference in Belgium (SLA 2012), has been reviewed in the recent monograph by Paola Boito (Universite de Limoges, France).
