Double-weighted statement

The book required six years of extensive research, including analysis of films and texts in the original French and sourcing rare documentary footage on Hiroshima. Analysing and acquiring the book’s wide-ranging images (177) took three years. The book’s unique style of writing, unhinging barriers between art history and literature (it is the first study of these authors and filmmakers together, and the first attempt to relate them all to Proust), required two years of rewriting
