Additional information

The paper presents a method which alleviates two of the most harmful effects of using plate discretisation when modelling thin structures: shear locking and error due to mesh distortion. For the same computational time, results are enhanced significantly, and the work has been used by over a hundred researchers in their work, from e.g. the National University of Singapore, Northwestern, MIT, University of Sydney, Peking University, the Finnish Geodetic Institute, Kyoto University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, in fields as diverse as biomechanics, acoustics, fracture mechanics, welding, eddy currents, geotechnical engineering, limit-load analysis, aerospace composites and biomechanics.
