Additional information

This EPSRC (EP/F02844X, £560k, 2008-2011) funded study had its novelty based on patent GB2406225 by the author. A submission based on this paper was awarded the European Electrical Insulation Manufacturers Annual Prize 2010 (the John Neal Award). The results were presented at international conferences (ISH2011, ICHVE2010). Following a recent invited lecture at an industrial conference “Wacker conference on silicone insulation, 2013”, the author was approached by Cellpack Company, a Swiss/German electrical power accessories company, to implement the textured surface idea on high voltage cable terminations. Implementation discussions are on-going. Cellpack contact is Dr Markus Ganter, CTO, Markus.Ganter@cellpack.com.
