Additional information

The publication describes a unique way to automate CAD data extraction from point clouds for architectural indoor scenes. Such automation is key to the BIM (Building Information Model) community as it removes the manual modelling cost – the current bottle neck in commercial tools (e.g. Autodesk Revit). The technique will speed up the overall process by 80% to 90%, thus enabling mass production. Together with a preceding conference publication “Toward automatic reconstruction of interiors from laser data” our novel approach has already attracted considerable citations, including citations outside Geomatics, e.g. British Machine Vision Conference & IEEE.
