Additional information

The work was part-funded by Sierra Sensors GMbH, and resulted in novel surface chemistries incorporated into diagnostic devices including the Quartz Crystal Microbalance sensors (QCMA-1) and Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR-2) sensor chips marketed by the company (Christopher Whalen, chris.whalen@sierrasensors.com), which are widely used by research laboratories to develop future sensor technologies.Tothill was awarded a Federation of European Microbiology Society (FEMS) research fellowship with the University of Valencia, Spain (2010).
