Additional information
Ancillary revenue generated $27 billion for the global airline industry in 2012 but there has been little academic research generated in this area to date. This research on ancillary revenue was carried out for SITA, a leading specialist in the commercial side of air transport communications and IT. Contact: Andrew Sleath, Andrew.Sleath@sita.aero. The work was highlighted in a summation in the China Daily (http://epaper.chinadailyasia.com/pools/2-20110520-015.pdf), the significance being that new revenue streams for financially distressed airlines could yield sustained profitability.
