Geographies of the Romantic North: Science, Antiquarianism, and Travel, 1790–1830 (New York: Palgrave Macmillan, 2013) was published as the result of three years’ full-time research and writing funded by Marie Curie COFUND/Irish Research Council, and with the support of St John’s College Cambridge, National University of Ireland Maynooth, and University of Toronto (2010-13). The book presents my pioneering and original research in the areas of the histories of science, exploration and empire, in archives in the UK, Canada, Sweden, and Ireland. It is 93,000 words in length.
