Additional information

This paper describes a data analysis technique for determination of structural modal masses using the mass change technique, with a novel formulation that enables consecutive mass changes to be used, which is a much more practical approach. This paper was co-authored with colleagues in the University of Oviedo in Spain, one of whom (Fernandez) visited for a period of 6 months to develop his skills in civil engineering dynamics and to carry out the experimental work using our unique analytical and experimental facilities.
