Response-dependent velocity feedback control for mitigation of human-induced floor vibrations
A new velocity feedback based controller with real-time variable gain was introduced, which was the first key result from a strategic new research into active control. This work was instrumental in the successful application for a £600k EPSRC project on floor vibration control (EP/H009825/1) and gained the interest of a key industrial collaborator WSP (a major international civil engineering consultant – jeremy.wells@wspgroup.com). It also contributed to a successful EPSRC Platform Grant application (EP/G061130/1). The student co-author of this paper remains employed in the Vibration Engineering Section as a postdoc funded by successful EPSRC projects, providing an important level of continuity.
